Wow. Such a difficult moment, such an elegant piece of writing.

Also—if you remember the UVA bookstore always had a bunch of cheap cassettes near the register—that’s where I picked up that cassette.

Hey Sean! Thanks so much for reading—more personal than I usually post on here, but why not? A good day to throw my to do list over and think my thoughts. Hope you’re doing well! L

For the last several years, I've not been able to hear or think of Bob Dylan without thinking of you and Ryan, so here's a new chapter in that. I love you both.

How beautiful and achy Laura. Your strength is admirable and your prose poetic. I’m so glad that you visited this summer. I look forward to your next chapter. Come again! Merry Christmas 😘

Beautifully written! I also pulled Blood on the Tracks out of that box during one of our tours around Grant Park in search of Dugan, my wandering mutt.

Dearest Laura, as I’m reading your words here, I’m moved. I’m feeling with you. I’m experiencing and enjoying your writing… and of course there’s the Freewheeling’ cassette tape! “Don’t Think Twice” couldn’t be more timely right now, for you and for many (any day for me, lol.)

Words convey our thoughts. Words create our world. And in this world, in YOUR world, you are driving this empty van back down to Jacksonville. Because - unlike in the song - your “precious time” wasn’t wasted. Because “25 years.” Because “two kids.” Because all the words and the songs and the memories between you and him and your children have been creating YOU, one most amazing, beautiful human being.

Merry Christmas. I love you, and I’m going to come and see you. 😎😘🎄
